About the school

Meridian Rustenburg has a high school in Rustenburg, North West, with a high school phase that offers quality education for learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12. With focused sports and cultural activities and an enhanced curriculum, we prepare learners for the NSC examination at the end of Grade 12 and aim to ensure affordable school fees without compromising our academic standards. As a Meridian school, our school is managed by Curro as part of a joint venture with Old Mutual and the Public Investment Corporation. In these grades, we guide learners to adjust to a greater workload of higher intensity. With dedicated teachers and affordable school fees, our enhanced curriculum approach places great emphasis on problem-solving and individual thinking. Teaching takes place in English, but Afrikaans is offered as an additional language option, and 21st-century skills are implemented in subjects such as Natural Sciences and Technology. As a Meridian school, our learners also receive guidance when choosing their elective subjects at the end of Grade 9. This phase prepares learners for the NSC examinations written at the end of Grade 12. However, through our enhanced curriculum, we emphasise a greater world-readiness rather than a purely examinations-driven approach. Our learners are taught to think innovatively, express their ideas and take charge of their own lives to be valued members of the community. Learners further benefit from having Afrikaans or Setswana as additional language options, and 21st-century skills are implemented in subjects such as Physical Sciences and Computer Applications Technology. See which subjects we offer by viewing our fact sheet. Our learners can extend their subject choices beyond what is offered at our school. They can choose from a wide range of subjects, and classes take place during the school day in the form of live lessons with teachers. These subjects can be seen as an extension of our enhanced curriculum from which our learners already benefit. Assignments and tests still take place, learners write the same NSC examinations, and the marks reflect on their regular progress reports. Curro Alumni aims to reconnect former matriculants with one another and keep them updated on developments within the Curro family. By treasuring our past, we can build our future together. We hope to build a meaningful and personal connection with our members by sharing their success stories and staying updated on their lives through social media. Alumni members enjoy several benefits, including exclusive offers for their children at selected schools. View Curro Alumni’s website for more information.

Facilities

Children learn best in a fun, supportive environment where they form an active part of the learning process. As a Meridian school, this environment is built by several factors, including the classroom’s appearance. Our classrooms are designed to be visually pleasing without causing undue distraction, while our dedicated teachers explain or present our enhanced curriculum with enthusiasm and passion. However, the most engaging principle is project-based learning, which guides learners to assimilate the material through their own research and discovery. Rather than simply reading information from a textbook, the information is learned by interacting with the material through assignments, research, discussions or creative projects. Our tuck shop offers a variety of drinks, snacks and freshly made meals for our learners and staff. As a school managed by Curro, we provide healthy snacks in addition to special treats. At our school, we aim to help learners develop to the best of their abilities. We therefore offer academic support in the form of Saturday classes and a winter/summer school for matric learners. Meridian Rustenburg has a high school in Rustenburg, North West, that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12.
