About the school
Meridian Rustenburg has a primary school in Rustenburg, North West, that offers high-quality education for learners from Grade R to Grade 7. With controlled class sizes, dedicated teachers and focused sports and cultural activities, we try to ensure affordable school fees without compromising our academic standards, 21st-century skills or our enhanced curriculum.
As a Meridian school, our school is managed by Curro as part of a joint venture with Old Mutual and the Public Investment Corporation.
Our foundation phase starts by providing the emotional and intellectual foundation required to handle the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. Through our enhanced curriculum, we then gradually develop learners’ 21st-century skills and knowledge in basic areas such as language (comprehension, speaking and listening), mathematics (counting and understanding numbers), and creative problem-solving, in an environment in which they enjoy being. As a Meridian school, learners even benefit from having Afrikaans and Setswana (from Grade 1) as additional language options.
In these grades, learners are taught to work with the learned material in an abstract manner. The nature of the content gradually builds from being tangible and real to more intellectual and abstract. We also prepare our learners for high school by teaching them to work more independently and to apply the material (21st-century skills and concepts) they have learned rather than just memorising it. Through our enhanced curriculum, we also promote creativity and critical thinking by encouraging learners to make their own choices within well-established boundaries.
As a school managed by Curro, teaching takes place in English, while Afrikaans and Setswana are offered as additional language options.

We are committed to providing learners with an excellent education. Therefore, our approach to teaching the national CAPS curriculum is built on project-based learning and self-discovery. This approach, which is supported by our affordable school fees, allows our learners to interact with the learned material or discover the core concepts themselves. Regular assessments and tests take place, but we focus on ensuring that learners can use their intellectual abilities to discover the material and make it real to them in some way. This further provides them with 21st-century skills such as problem-solving, research, and self-initiated proactive action.
Facilities
Our aftercare service is available at an additional cost, as stipulated on our fees letter (see Downloads). Children are accommodated in a learning centre, and the fees include a light lunch, basic homework assistance, playtime, and supervision until late in the afternoon.
Children learn best in a fun, supportive environment where they form an active part of the learning process. As a Meridian school, this environment is built by several factors, including the classroom’s appearance. Our classrooms are designed to be visually pleasing without causing undue distraction, while our dedicated teachers explain or present our enhanced curriculum with enthusiasm and passion. However, the most engaging principle is project-based learning, which guides learners to assimilate the material through their own research and discovery. Rather than simply reading information from a textbook, the information is learned by interacting with the material through assignments, research, discussions or creative projects.
Our tuck shop offers a variety of drinks, snacks and freshly made meals for our learners and staff. We are committed to providing healthy snacks as well as selected treats.
