Welcome to Curro Brackenfell High School

Curro Brackenfell is a new high school situated in Sonkring, Brackenfell, offering the excellent Curro education to learners in Grades 8 and 9, with Grade 10 opening in 2026. Our school provides a supportive, family-oriented environment where learners are known, valued, and guided to reach their full potential.

Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 25 learners, ensuring individual attention and meaningful engagement in every classroom. Teaching takes place in English, we follow the IEB curriculum, and learners benefit from specialised subjects such as Robotics. A school transport option is also available for added convenience.

Learners from our primary school automatically progress to our high school, allowing them to remain close to home and continue their educational journey alongside familiar friends. This continuity provides stability and reassurance for both learners and parents.

Our Academic Approach

As an IEB school, our approach to teaching the national CAPS curriculum is based on project-based learning and self-discovery. Learners are encouraged to explore learning material beyond the textbook through research, experiments, and practical assignments.

While regular assessments and tests form part of the academic programme, we place strong emphasis on helping learners apply knowledge in meaningful ways. This develops initiative, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, while preparing learners thoroughly for the IEB examinations in Grade 12.

Senior Phase Support

The senior phase begins by helping Grade 8 learners adjust to the increased academic demands of high school. Small class sizes allow teachers to identify and support individual needs, ensuring learners build confidence and strong study habits.

At the end of Grade 9, learners receive guidance when selecting their elective subjects, helping them make informed choices aligned with their interests and future goals.

Language and Subject Choices

Teaching takes place in English, with Afrikaans offered as an additional language option. As learners progress through high school, they will also have the opportunity to choose elective subjects beyond what is offered on campus.

These additional subjects are presented digitally by Curro teachers, with live lessons scheduled during the school day and supervised self-directed sessions after hours. Learners still complete the IEB examinations, ensuring a seamless and personalised learning experience.
