We are committed to providing learners with an excellent education. That is why our approach to teaching the national CAPS curriculum is based on project-based learning and self-discovery. This approach allows our primary school learners to explore the learning material beyond just the textbook through research, experiments and assignments. Regular assessments and tests still take place, but it’s important to us that learners can use their intellectual abilities to make the material real to them in some way. Learners from Grade 4 onwards may also choose to use tablets in class to enhance their learning.
As part of the Curro school group, we take education to the next level. Our technology and engineering subject areas in particular expose learners to 3D printing, laser cutting, and VR gaming. We also have a learner support centre where therapists assess and support learners who need development or refining in certain areas.
As part of the Curro school group, our learners enjoy preference when applying to any school in the group. Nearby high schools include Curro Wilgeheuwel, Cooper College, Curro Krugersdorp, Meridian Cosmo City, Northriding College.
Our preschool helps to prepare Grade R learners for the more formal learning that starts when they join our primary school in Grade 1. In this phase, they learn the basic foundations on which all further learning is based:
Language (read, spell, understand, speak, listen)
Mathematics (count, understand numbers, addition, subtraction and multiplication)
Life skills (physical education, real-life experiences, problem-solving, creativity)
In the intermediate phase, the work becomes less tangible or real, and more abstract. To do this, learners start with project-based learning, which means they do research, assignments, and experiments to explore the material outside just the textbook.
Teaching takes place in English, and learners have Afrikaans and isiZulu as additional language options. They also have Robotics as a subject.
One part of the excellent Curro education, is that academics are balanced with sports and cultural activities. Participation in activities promote team-awareness, collaboration, and self-confidence. Activities such as art and choir help learners develop the skills to gather their thoughts and express themselves in creative ways. Our extensive variety of activities, such as drama and cheerleading, are tailored to the interests of learners in our area. Your child is sure to find something that will pique their interest.
