About the school

A Heart-Led Education in Fourways

HeronBridge College, located in the serene countryside of Nietgedacht, Fourways, offers a nurturing educational journey for learners from 2 years (turning 3) to Grade 12. Built on a solid foundation of Christian principles, we provide a holistic, heart-led approach to education. We are an IEB school that encourages curiosity, instils confidence, and prepares well-rounded individuals for the challenges of the 21st-century world. As part of the Curro school group, we combine the personalized care of a community school with the excellence expected of a top-tier independent institution.

Academic Excellence and World-Readiness

We provide education of the highest quality, developing each learner academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Our controlled class sizes ensure that the fundamental ethos of care and concern for each individual is never lost. While we prepare learners for the IEB examinations in Grade 12, our enhanced curriculum focuses on "world-readiness," equipping students with critical skills for the future.

Specialised Offerings:

  • Subjects: Engineering Graphics and Design, Robotics, and Further Studies Mathematics.
  • Languages: English medium with Afrikaans and isiZulu as additional language options.
  • Scholarships: We reward excellence in academics, sport, culture, and all-rounder abilities (available for Grade 8 entry).

A Journey Through the Phases

The Pre-Preparatory Phase: Learning Through Play
We believe that play is the essence of creativity. Our programme develops the "whole child" to ensure they are physically, emotionally, and spiritually ready for formal learning. A highlight of our campus is the Fantasy Village—featuring real-life versions of a restaurant, fire station, hospital, grocery store, and classroom—where learning happens through imagination and exploration. Devotion and prayer are integrated daily to teach children about God’s love.

The Preparatory Phase: Building Foundations
In small classes, we gently guide learners into formal learning. We develop core skills in language, mathematics, and creative problem-solving within an environment where children genuinely enjoy coming to school.

The College (High School): Preparing Young Adults
Our learners enter as teenagers and leave as young adults ready for life. We guide them through this transition, balancing rigorous IEB preparation with active involvement in outreach and ministry programmes. We aim to share in their joys as they establish their identities.

Boarding: A Home for Boys (Grades 8–12)

Our boarding school offers a safe, modern home for boys in Grades 8 to 12. Designed for comfort and privacy, rooms accommodate a maximum of two boarders. The facility is managed by three live-in staff members who serve as caretakers and tutors.

Boarding Highlights:

  • Comfort: Lounge with DStv, Xbox consoles, and bean bags.
  • Health: Gymnasium, heated swimming pool, and three balanced meals a day.
  • Spirit: Early-morning gym and devotion times to encourage physical and spiritual health.
