About the school
Welcome to Curro Roodeplaat High School: Excellence in Education
Nestled in the serene Kameeldrift area of Roodeplaat, Pretoria, Curro Roodeplaat High School offers an exceptional educational journey for learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12. We are dedicated to providing the renowned Curro standard of education within a nurturing and stimulating environment.
Our commitment to individual attention is reflected in our intimate class sizes, limited to a maximum of 25 learners. This ensures that every student receives personalised guidance and support, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for learning. We proudly offer an extensive array of specialised subjects and enriching activities, all taught in English, and prepare our learners for the rigorous Independent Examinations Board (IEB) exams. For your convenience, a reliable school transport option is also available.
Innovative Learning: Project-Based & Self-Discovery
At Curro Roodeplaat, we believe in an education that transcends the ordinary. Our dynamic approach to the national CAPS curriculum is rooted in project-based learning and self-discovery. This empowers our high school learners to delve into learning material far beyond the confines of a textbook. Through engaging research projects, hands-on experiments, and thought-provoking assignments, students actively construct knowledge, develop critical thinking skills, and cultivate a lifelong love for learning – all while meticulously preparing for their Grade 12 IEB exams. Our diverse elective subjects even include unique offerings such as Dance Studies, allowing students to explore their passions.
Expanding Horizons: Digital Elective Subjects
We are proud to offer an innovative extension to our curriculum through digital elective subjects. These courses allow our high school learners to explore a broader range of academic interests, beyond those traditionally available on campus. Delivered live by experienced Curro teachers during the school day, with supervised self-directed sessions available after hours, these subjects provide a flexible and cutting-edge learning experience. Learners access these lessons in a dedicated classroom, fully equipped with all necessary resources. This ensures a seamless integration into their academic journey, culminating in the same respected IEB examination at the end of Grade 12.
Please note: This exciting digital learning option is exclusively for our high school learners and is not available to students enrolled in NCV courses due to their distinct academic programmes.
Seamless Pathways: On-Campus Private College
Our campus is uniquely designed to offer diverse educational pathways, sharing facilities with a private college that provides National Certificate (Vocational) – NCV – programmes from Level 2 to Level 4. NCV presents a high-standard, career-focused alternative for students from Grade 10 to Grade 12, allowing them to choose a specific career path after Grade 9. This co-location ensures that your child benefits from a continuous, school-like environment surrounded by peers of their age, whether pursuing the IEB curriculum or a vocational qualification.
Curro’s dedication to quality education extends to our NCV programmes, which equip students with valuable workplace-ready skills and knowledge. This means graduates are well-prepared for immediate employment should they choose not to pursue further tertiary studies. Like our high school, NCV class sizes are limited to ensure lecturers can provide personal attention to each student. Kindly note that we are currently not open for new enrolments to our NCV programmes.
A Supportive Community: Curro Group Benefits & Learner Support
As a proud member of the esteemed Curro school group, learners benefit from a vast network of educational excellence. Students transitioning from other Curro primary schools within the group, such as Curro Hazeldean and Woodhill College (both within a 30-minute drive), enjoy preferential application status. The Curro group also offers flexible learning options, including the fully online IEB school, Curro Online, providing the same quality education from the comfort of home.
We firmly believe that a holistic education extends beyond classroom walls, and that every learner deserves comprehensive support to achieve their academic and personal best. That’s why we offer a range of enriching programmes designed to nurture growth and success:
- Grade 8 orientation camp: A warm welcome to high school life.
- Grade 10 compass camp: Guiding students towards future choices.
- Grade 11 leadership development: Cultivating future leaders.
