Get an overview of everything we can offer you on our fact sheet. We are committed to providing learners with an excellent education. That is why our approach to teaching the national CAPS curriculum is based on project-based learning and self-discovery. This approach allows our primary school learners to explore the learning material beyond just the textbook through research, experiments and assignments. Regular assessments and tests still take place, but it’s important to us that learners can use their intellectual abilities to make the material real to them in some way. This gives learners a head start in their eventual workplace dreams, because they learn to take initiative and making connections between pieces of knowledge. As part of the Curro school group, our learners enjoy preference when applying to other schools in the group. Nearby schools include Curro Hazeldean and Curro Academy Mamelodi. Our foundation phase starts by helping Grade R learners get ready for the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. In this phase, they learn the basic foundations on which all further learning is based: Language (read, spell, understand, speak, listen) Mathematics (count, understand numbers, addition, subtraction and multiplication) Life skills (physical education, real-life experiences, problem-solving, creativity) In the intermediate phase, the work becomes less tangible or real, and more abstract. To do this, learners start with project-based learning, which means they do research, assignments, and experiments to explore the material outside just the textbook. Teaching takes place in English, and learners can choose Afrikaans and Sepedi as additional language options. They also have Robotics as a subject. As part of the Curro school group, we control the number of learners per class to be no more than 35, so that our teachers have the time and space to give personal attention to each learner, in exactly the places that they need. This is just one of the ways that we create an environment where your child will enjoy what they learn and love coming to school. Our school is built on a balance of values that allow learners to learn and grow into the best versions of themselves. We believe that a good education is the basis on which learners can grow to become strong leaders and responsible citizens who will make a positive change in their communities. Our value system is based on four pillars: Child-friendliness Positive discipline Christian values (ethics and morals) Creative thinking One part of the excellent Curro education, is that academics are balanced with sports and cultural activities. Participation in activities promote team-awareness, collaboration, and self-confidence.
