About the school
Waterstone College has a primary school in Kibler Park, Johannesburg. We provide an excellent education to learners from Grade R to Grade 7. We limit our class sizes to make sure that learners get personal attention, and teaching takes place in English. We also form part of the Curro school group, and have aftercare and school transport options. We even have an academic support centre, with Mathletics and other programmes to enhance our curriculum.
We are committed to providing learners with an excellent education. That is why our approach to teaching the national CAPS curriculum is based on project-based learning and self-discovery. This approach allows our primary school learners to explore the learning material beyond just the textbook through research, experiments and assignments. Regular assessments and tests still take place, but it’s important to us that learners can use their intellectual abilities to make the material real to them in some way.
As part of the Curro school group, we can tap into a wide network of teachers and support that can ultimately give your child an excellent education that stretches beyond the classroom.
Our foundation phase starts by helping Grade 1 adapt to the more formal learning that starts in this year. In this phase, they learn the basic foundations on which all further learning is based:
Language (read, spell, understand, speak, listen)
Mathematics (count, understand numbers, addition, subtraction and multiplication)
Life skills (physical education, real-life experiences, problem-solving, creativity)
In the intermediate phase, the work becomes less tangible or real, and more abstract. To do this, learners start with project-based learning, which means they do research, assignments, and experiments to explore the material outside just the textbook.
Teaching takes place in English, and learners can choose Afrikaans and isiZulu as additional language options. They also have Robotics as a subject throughout school.
One part of the excellent Curro education, is that academics are balanced with sports and cultural activities. Participation in activities promote team-awareness, collaboration, and self-confidence. As a primary school in Kibler Park, our wide range of activities are tailored to the interests of our learners. Activities such as chess and choir even give learners a boost in their education, because they help your child become confident in formulating their ideas and making their voice heard.
At Waterstone College, our learners further benefit from a school of performing arts that supports learners to develop their inherent skills and talents, particularly when they show great aptitude for the cultural activity. Areas of art include music, dance and drama.

Waterstone College was established in 2007 with merely 120 learners and 10 staff members. In seven short years, we became one of the fastest-growing schools in the province and joined the Curro group as a Curro Select school. By 2015, our numbers had increased to over 1 300 learners and 120 staff members, and our preschool opened one year later – and we have just kept growing.
Our contemporary buildings and spectacular facilities have been carefully designed to preserve the natural beauty of our school’s surroundings and our foundations are solidly laid in our Christian values (ethics and morals). We believe that these elements, along with our small class sizes and specialised subjects such as Robotics, play a great part in what makes our school one where children love to learn and develop 21st-century skills.
Our primary school is located in Kibler Park, Johannesburg, and provides high-quality education for learners from Grade R to Grade 7. Our dedicated teachers, small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills. We also offer school transport, and specialised subjects such as Robotics.
