Nurturing Every Child, Individually

We understand that young children thrive on attention and nurturing. That’s why our classes are thoughtfully divided by age, and we maintain strictly controlled class sizes. This commitment ensures that each child receives the personalized care and focused attention they deserve.

To further enhance this individualized support, our dedicated teachers are often assisted by one or more assistants, depending on the age group and specific needs of the class. This low child-to-educator ratio allows our team to truly get to know each child, helping them to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally, all while feeling genuinely loved and valued.

Welcome to Walvis Bay Gymnasium Preschool: Nurturing Foundations for Lifelong Learning

At Walvis Bay Gymnasium, located in the vibrant Erongo region of Namibia, we are dedicated to providing an exceptional early childhood development experience for children aged 3 years to Grade R. As part of the esteemed Curro school group, our preschool programme follows the robust Namibian curriculum, designed to ignite inherent curiosity, foster a love of play, and support your child's holistic well-being. We offer instruction in both English and Afrikaans, ensuring a rich bilingual foundation.

A Seamless Start to the Day

We understand the demands on busy families with challenging commutes. That's why we open our doors early each morning, providing a convenient and stress-free start to your child's day. Children are greeted with a warm, gentle welcome by their dedicated teachers and assistants, settling into a nurturing environment where they can enjoy engaging free play before our enriching preschool programme officially begins.

Personalized Attention in Nurturing Classrooms

Our thoughtfully structured classes are carefully divided by age, ensuring that learning experiences are perfectly tailored to each developmental stage. We pride ourselves on maintaining optimal class sizes, with each dedicated teacher supported by one or more experienced assistants. This low child-to-educator ratio guarantees personalized care and focused attention for every little learner, allowing each child to thrive and reach their full potential within our enriching programme.

Safety and Well-being: Our Foremost Priority

We celebrate the boundless energy of childhood, encouraging spirited play, exploration, climbing, and jumping. We understand that active play sometimes leads to minor scrapes and bumps, which is why all our dedicated teachers are fully trained in first aid, ready to provide immediate and compassionate care. Please note that in adherence to national regulations, teachers are prohibited from dispensing any medicine, including over-the-counter or herbal tonics, without a valid prescription signed by a medical doctor. Should your child require medication during the day, our designated first-aid officers will administer it in class only upon presentation of a valid prescription.

Transparent Communication and Developmental Insights

Our passionate educators forge deep, meaningful connections with each child, allowing them to gain profound insights into your child's unique developmental journey and emotional well-being. To keep you fully informed, we provide comprehensive developmental reports at the end of each term, accompanied by personal one-on-one consultations with every parent. Furthermore, your child’s day is meticulously recorded in a daily communication journal, sent home with your child each afternoon. This journal offers detailed insights into their day, including meals, hydration, rest periods, emotional experiences, and exciting learning moments.

Classrooms as Vibrant Learning Landscapes

Children are natural explorers, learning through dynamic interaction with their world. At Walvis Bay Gymnasium, our thoughtfully designed classrooms are vibrant learning landscapes, acting as 'silent teachers.' They are crafted to be spacious, stimulating environments that encourage free movement, imaginative play, and multi-sensory exploration on both visual and tactile levels. By integrating the classroom itself into the learning experience, we foster holistic early childhood development, even during moments of relaxed social interaction and quiet discovery with friends.

Dynamic Outdoor Adventures

Our expansive outdoor play areas are designed to inspire joy and physical development. Featuring exciting jungle gyms, imaginative playhouses, classic sea-saws, a dedicated motor development zone, inviting sand pits, and engaging water pits, these spaces encourage active, healthy play. For added safety and to prevent allergic reactions, most areas boast synthetic grass. On particularly sunny days, additional safety measures are diligently implemented to protect our little ones.

A Valued Partnership: The Representative Parent Committee (RPC)

We believe in the power of community and encourage parents to play an active role in our school's vibrant life through our duly-elected Representative Parent Committee (RPC). Comprised of parents of current learners, the RPC acts as a vital liaison between the school and our parent community, offering invaluable advice and representing parent perspectives. While the RPC does not make or enforce school decisions, it plays a crucial role in fostering connection, raising funds through specific events, and hosting social and fellowship gatherings throughout the year. Through the RPC, parents can share their input in a structured manner, contributing significantly to the operational success of the school and, ultimately, to the benefit of all our children.
