Personalised Attention in a Nurturing Environment
We understand that every young child thrives on individual attention and a secure, loving environment. That’s why, at Northriding College Pre-Primary, we meticulously craft our class structures to ensure optimal care. Classes are thoughtfully divided by age, and we maintain strictly controlled numbers, with no more than 20 to 25 children per class (depending on age group). Furthermore, our dedicated lead teachers are supported by one or more assistants, ensuring a truly outstanding adult-to-child ratio. This commitment to smaller class sizes means each child receives the personalised care, guidance, and affection they need to confidently explore, learn, and truly flourish.
A Seamless Educational Journey: Your Child's Future with Curro
As a cherished member of the Curro school group, Northriding College Pre-Primary offers your child more than just an early education – it provides a pathway to a seamless and exceptional academic journey. Upon completion of our pre-primary programme, your child enjoys automatic progression to our primary school, providing peace of mind and continuity in their learning. Should you consider other options within the Curro network, your child will also receive preferential placement when applying to any Curro school. Our strong connections within the group mean access to a wide array of outstanding primary schools, including nearby options like The King’s School Linbro Park, Meridian Cosmo City, Curro Rivonia, Curro Douglasdale, Curro Aurora, and Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel, with Curro Krugersdorp also available a short distance away. This integrated approach ensures a smooth transition and a bright future for your little one.
Holistic Development with the Curro ELDA Programme
At Northriding College Pre-Primary, your child’s holistic growth is at the heart of everything we do. As a proud Curro school, we implement a dynamic programme meticulously designed to nurture their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive well-being. Our unique approach to early childhood development is built around the internationally recognised Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAs). The ELDA framework focuses on fostering broad developmental areas rather than rigid, age-specific milestones. This means your child is supported and encouraged to grow at their own unique pace, free from the pressure of comparative development. Throughout their day, children joyfully engage in play and creative exploration, with our dedicated teachers and assistants expertly guiding them through activities that naturally engage these vital ELDA areas.
- Identity and Belonging: Fostering a strong sense of self, building friendships, and understanding the joy of sharing.
- Physical Well-being: Developing coordination, balance, movement, and an awareness of safety through active play.
- Communication: Enhancing speech, active listening, and comprehension skills to express thoughts and understand others.
- Creativity: Sparking imagination through drawing, painting, dancing, dramatic play, and open-ended exploration.
- Mathematics: Introducing foundational concepts like shapes, size, time, and counting in engaging, hands-on ways.
- Learning About the World: Cultivating curiosity and understanding through exploration of their environment and natural phenomena.
Igniting Imagination Through Innovative Play
We believe that sparking curiosity and imagination in early childhood is the cornerstone for developing vital problem-solving skills and critical thinking later in life. That’s why, as a core component of our exceptional preschool programme, we champion innovative 'loose-parts play.' Instead of single-purpose toys that limit creativity, we provide multi-purpose playthings and open-ended materials that invite children to imagine, invent, and construct. Through this engaging approach, your child will naturally harness their innate curiosity, discovering endless fascinations like stacking, rolling, sliding, fitting, exploring colours, and so much more – fostering genuine ingenuity and a love for discovery.
Enriching Days and Exciting Extramurals
Each day at Northriding College Pre-Primary is a vibrant adventure, thoughtfully structured with a rich variety of physical and cognitive activities. Our children are immersed in purposeful play where learning is seamlessly integrated into every moment. Beyond our comprehensive daily curriculum, we offer an exciting array of optional extramural activities. These enriching programmes provide wonderful opportunities to further strengthen specific developmental areas or hone emerging talents and interests. Delivered by experienced external tutors and coaches, these activities take place conveniently on our school premises (at an additional cost). We believe in the power of individualized attention. Younger children and babies often have a higher assistant-to-child ratio, recognizing their unique developmental needs.Prioritising Your Child's Safety & Well-being
Children learn by exploring, running, playing, climbing, and jumping – sometimes leading to minor bumps and bruises. Rest assured, our teachers are comprehensively trained in first aid, and we have a registered nurse on site once a week. Please note that national regulations prohibit teachers from dispensing any medicine without a valid prescription signed by a medical doctor. Therefore, when medicine is required during the day, our first-aid officers or nurse will administer it in class only with a valid prescription.Inspiring Learning Environments
