About the school

When children feel nurtured and supported, and safe, they grow into the best versions of themselves. That's what we do here – care for your child's holistic development in a beautiful, happy environment. Magic Beings is a preschool in Northriding, Randburg, that provides high-quality early childhood development for children from birth to 5 years. Our classes are divided by age, and we carefully control the number of children per class to ensure that they are all cared for and entertained. Our internally developed preschool programme engages inherent curiosity and love of play, while supporting their well-being all-round. Our preschool programme is also designed to integrate with the Cambridge curriculum, which is followed at Cooper College – a nearby school to which your child can automatically progress for primary school. Get an overview of everything we can offer you on our fact sheet. Children learn by discovering the world around them – and anything learned while playing at a young age is remembered much faster and more efficiently compared to anything learned while sitting at a table in a forced learning environment. As part of the Curro school group, our children enjoy a play-based approach to early childhood development. Learning during childhood starts with babies exploring their touch and taste sense while playing with squishy pasta, jelly, and other texture-rich objects. Later on, young toddlers learn the basics of mathematics by playing with building blocks, balls, manipulating objects around their bodies, and other ways. Older toddlers learn the basics of writing and reading with comprehension by drawing, painting, singing, and generally discovering objects that centre around a specific theme. Here are some examples of the areas that are developed by learning through play: Mathematics: shapes, size, time, counting, adding, subtracting Communication: speech, listening, reading, understanding Creativity: drawing, painting, correct pinching of a pencil, dancing Physical well-being: balance, movement, safety Identity and belonging: personality, morals, caring, friendship, sharing As part of the Curro school group, children enjoy preference when applying to us from any school in the group. Our children automatically progress to Cooper College, our neighbouring Curro Select School – unless you choose to transfer elsewhere. Other nearby schools include Curro Aurora, Curro Victory Park and Northriding College. As part of the group of Curro schools, we believe in involving parents. For moms who might need advice about feeding, weaning, teething, etc. our baby centre supervisor is always on hand, as part of our school fees. Our parents are involved when it comes to annual highlights such as Mother’s and Father’s Day mornings and Easter egg hunts. We also regularly send informative newsletters home to keep parents up to date on school activities, fundraisers and events.

Facilities

As a preschool in Northriding, Randburg, we understand that working parents don’t get school holidays, which might pose a challenge when children are at home. That is why our preschool remains open during school holidays with a full holiday-care programme at no additional cost. Early childhood development activities continue, although we may arrange some extra fun activities during this time. We are closed only for a specified period during December and January. Our school fees include meals, bottles, and formula. This means that all you need to pack are diapers, wet wipes, bum cream, and a change of clothes. Meals are freshly prepared in our on-site kitchen and are delivered to class in time for snack time or meal time. We also carefully accommodate allergies and other dietary requirements so that your child can enjoy all their meals. View our fact sheet to discover what else is included in our school fees. Our classes are divided by age and each teacher has one or more assistants in each class, depending on the group and the number of children in the class. This ensures that each child gets the care and attention they need, and that they can optimally benefit from our preschool programme. There are often more assistants for the younger ones and babies, as they have needs that are unique from any other age groups. Children wholeheartedly run, play, climb, and jump, which may sometimes lead to minor bumps and bruises. This is why we have a registered on-site nurse on designated days – and all our teachers are trained in first aid. National regulations prohibit teachers from dispensing any medicine, even with a prescription signed by a medical doctor. If your child has a chronic condition, or if you have any questions around dispensing medicine, please contact reception so that they can direct your query. Children learn by interacting with the world around them. That is why our preschool classrooms themselves are considered to be inanimate teachers of sorts. They are designed to allow maximum room for play and movement while being stimulating on a visual and tactile level. By involving the classroom in the learning experience, your child is engaged in early childhood development even when simply enjoying some lounge time with their friends. Each age group has its own outdoor play area designed to encourage physical play. Our babies (Group 1) have a separate garden with an AstroTurf where they can enjoy the various activities we offer, while children in Groups 2 to 5 each have respective play areas with beautiful equipment to stimulate early childhood development. We also a two heated swimming pool. Magic Beings is a preschool in Northriding, Randburg, that provides high-quality early childhood development for children from birth to 5 years.
