About the school

Where Magic Happens: A Nurturing Start in Northriding

Located in the heart of Northriding, Randburg, Magic Beings is a preschool dedicated to raising the best versions of your children. We provide high-quality early childhood development for little ones from birth to 5 years. In our beautiful, happy environment, we ensure that every child feels nurtured, supported, and safe. By carefully controlling class sizes, we guarantee that each child receives the personal care, entertainment, and attention they need to flourish.

A Foundation for Excellence: The Cambridge Connection

Our internally developed preschool programme is unique in its design. It engages your child's inherent curiosity and love of play while seamlessly integrating with the Cambridge curriculum. This structure ensures a smooth academic transition to Cooper College, our neighbouring school where your child can automatically progress for primary school.

Learning Through Play

We believe that childhood is a journey of discovery. Research shows that children retain information faster and more efficiently when learning through play rather than in a forced environment. As part of the Curro school group, our play-based approach supports physical, social, emotional, and cognitive well-being:

  • Babies: Explore the world through touch and taste, engaging with texture-rich objects like squishy pasta and jelly.
  • Young Toddlers: Grasp the basics of mathematics and spatial awareness by playing with building blocks, balls, and manipulating objects.
  • Older Toddlers: Develop early literacy and writing skills through drawing, painting, singing, and theme-based discovery.

Holistic Development Areas

Our curriculum is designed to foster growth across all vital areas of development:

  • Mathematics: Shapes, size, time, counting, addition, and subtraction.
  • Communication: Enhancing speech, listening, reading comprehension, and understanding.
  • Creativity: Artistic expression, dancing, and fine motor skills (such as pencil grip).
  • Physical Well-being: Promoting balance, movement, and safety awareness.
  • Identity and Belonging: Cultivating personality, morals, friendship, and the joy of sharing.

A Community of Support

At Magic Beings, we believe in supporting the whole family. We actively involve parents through informative newsletters and annual highlights like Mother’s and Father’s Day mornings and Easter egg hunts.

Support for New Moms:
We understand that the early years can be challenging. Our baby centre supervisor is always on hand to offer advice on feeding, weaning, teething, and more—a service included in your school fees to give you peace of mind.

Future Pathways

Joining our family connects you to a wider network of educational excellence. Beyond our direct link to Cooper College, learners enjoy preferential placement when applying to any school in the Curro group, including nearby Curro Aurora, Curro Victory Park, and Northriding College.

Join Magic Beings today and give your child a magical start to their educational journey.

Facilities

Supporting Working Families Year-Round

We understand that working parents don’t get school holidays. To support your busy schedule, our preschool remains open throughout the school holidays, offering a full holiday-care programme at no additional cost. While we shift gears to include extra fun activities, our early childhood development curriculum continues uninterrupted. We are closed only for a short, specified period during December and January.

Truly All-Inclusive Fees

We aim to make your morning routine as stress-free as possible. Our school fees are comprehensively inclusive, covering meals, bottles, and formula. This means you only need to pack diapers, wet wipes, bum cream, and a change of clothes—we handle the rest.

Nutrition:
All meals are freshly prepared in our on-site kitchen and delivered to class. We carefully accommodate allergies and dietary requirements to ensure every child enjoys healthy, safe dining.

Individualized Care and Safety

Our classes are strictly divided by age, with every teacher supported by one or more assistants. We maintain higher staff-to-child ratios for babies and younger groups, ensuring they receive the unique care and cuddling they need.

Health and Safety Measures:

  • On-Site Nurse: We have a registered nurse on-site on designated days to monitor health and well-being.
  • First Aid: All our teachers are fully trained in first aid to handle minor bumps and bruises.
  • Medication Policy: National regulations regarding medication in schools are strict. If your child has a chronic condition or requires medication, please contact reception directly so we can guide you on the correct protocols.

Inspiring Learning Environments

The "Third Teacher"
We view our classrooms as "inanimate teachers." They are purposefully designed to be visually and tactilely stimulating while allowing maximum room for movement and play. By involving the physical environment in the learning experience, your child is engaged in development even during quiet moments with friends.

Outdoor Adventures and Facilities

Physical play is vital for growing bodies. Each age group enjoys its own dedicated outdoor play area, ensuring age-appropriate safety and stimulation:

  • Babies (Group 1): A separate garden with AstroTurf for soft, safe exploration.
  • Groups 2 to 5: Respective play areas equipped with beautiful structures to stimulate development.
  • Swimming: We boast two heated swimming pools for aquatic confidence and fun.
