Curro The Blyde has a primary school in Pretoria. We provide the excellent Curro education to learners from Grade R to Grade 7. We limit our class sizes to make sure learners get personal attention, and they benefit from having Robotics as a subject. Our goal is to give our learners a head start in reaching their dreams, whatever these might be. Our foundation phase starts by helping Grade R learners get ready for the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. In this phase, they learn the basic foundations on which all further learning is based: Language (read, spell, understand, speak, listen) Mathematics (count, understand numbers, addition, subtraction and multiplication) Life skills (physical education, real-life experiences, problem-solving, creativity) In the intermediate phase, the work becomes less tangible or real, and more abstract. To do this, learners start with project-based learning, which means they do research, assignments, and experiments to explore the material outside just the textbook. We believe that participation in activities plays an important role in promoting health, discipline, self-confidence and community. Therefore, as a Curro school our sports and cultural activities are designed to help learners discover their inherent talents, or to broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework, which is important for the development of 21st-century skills. Children learn best in a fun, supportive environment where they form an active part of the learning process. This environment is built by several factors, including small class sizes and the classroom’s appearance. Our primary school classrooms are designed to be visually pleasing without causing undue distraction, so that learners are able to pay full attention when teachers present the unique Curro education approach at affordable school fees. As part of our affordable school fees as a Curro school, our gated entrances are monitored by security guards and CCTV cameras, and visitors sign in to gain access. Learners in our primary school are always kept safe and secure. We also have strict permission controls in place to ensure that children are picked up by only authorised individuals. When a parent or guardian is not able to pick up the learner on a certain day, they need to inform the school via telephone call, and complete an official form providing the details of the person who will be picking up the learner.
