About the school
Welcome to Curro Bankenveld Preschool, nestled in the heart of Reyno Ridge, Emalahleni (Bankenveld) – a vibrant space where young minds flourish! We are dedicated to providing an exceptional early childhood development programme, thoughtfully designed by Curro, for children aged 3 months to 5 years.
At Curro Bankenveld, we understand the demands on modern families. That's why we offer flexible half-day and full-day options, convenient early drop-off times, and comprehensive holiday care, all at no additional cost. Your child's well-being and your peace of mind are our top priorities.
Our Nurturing Approach: Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAs)
As a proud member of the esteemed Curro school group, our preschool programme is meticulously crafted to support your child's holistic physical, social, emotional, and cognitive well-being. Our unique approach to early childhood development is built around the innovative Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAs).
Unlike rigid milestone-based systems, ELDAs focus on fostering growth across key developmental areas, ensuring your child feels celebrated and encouraged, never pressured to conform to someone else's timeline. This supportive environment allows each child to develop at their own natural pace, building confidence and a lifelong love for learning.
The core ELDAs that guide our enriching curriculum include:
- Identity and Belonging: Cultivating a strong sense of self, nurturing friendships, and fostering the joy of sharing and collaboration.
- Physical Well-being: Developing essential motor skills, coordination, balance, and an understanding of personal safety through active play.
- Communication: Encouraging confident speech, active listening, and comprehensive understanding to build strong foundational communication skills.
- Creativity: Igniting imagination through expressive play, drawing, painting, dancing, and artistic exploration.
- Mathematics: Introducing fundamental concepts like shapes, size, time, and counting in engaging and interactive ways.
- Learning About the World: Sparking curiosity and encouraging exploration to help children understand and connect with the fascinating world around them.
Fostering Innovation Through Imaginative Play
We believe that nurturing curiosity and imagination in early childhood is fundamental to developing crucial problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities later in life. That's why our exceptional preschool programme champions the power of "loose-parts" and multi-purpose playthings.
Unlike restrictive, single-purpose toys, loose-parts inspire boundless creativity. Through this engaging play, our children are empowered to use their innate curiosity to explore a world of possibilities – discovering the wonders of stacking, rolling, sliding, fitting, colours, textures, and so much more. This hands-on, open-ended approach sparks innovation and encourages children to think outside the box.
Dedicated Care and Individual Attention
Every child deserves abundant attention and nurturing. Our classes are thoughtfully divided by age, and we maintain strictly controlled class sizes, ranging from 10 to 25 children depending on the age group. This ensures that each child receives the personalised care they need to thrive.
As part of the Curro family, our highly qualified teachers are further supported by one or more dedicated assistants, depending on the age group and class size. This optimal teacher-to-child ratio guarantees that your little one receives individualised support, feels truly seen and loved, and develops a strong sense of security within our caring environment.

Choosing Curro Bankenveld Preschool means investing in a future of seamless educational progression. As part of the wider Curro school group, our learners enjoy preferential placement when applying to any Curro school. Uninterrupted Care: Holiday Programmes at No Extra Cost
We recognise that working parents don't get school holidays, and finding reliable care can be a challenge. At Curro Bankenveld Preschool, your peace of mind is paramount. Our preschool remains open during school holidays, offering a full, engaging holiday-care programme at absolutely no additional cost. While our core early childhood development activities continue, we also weave in extra fun and exciting adventures to keep little minds and bodies stimulated. We are only closed for a specified period during December and January, allowing for consistent, high-quality care throughout the year.
Tailored to Your Family's Rhythm: Flexible Day Options
Every family has its own unique rhythm, and our flexible half-day and full-day options are designed to accommodate yours. While each option has its own fee structure, rest assured that the core, impactful early childhood development activities primarily take place during the morning hours. This means your child will fully benefit from our comprehensive learning programme even with a half-day option. Activities extending into the afternoon remain developmental in nature, offering continued growth and engagement.
A Gentle Start to the Day: Early Drop-off Convenience
For parents navigating challenging commutes or early work schedules, we offer the convenience of early morning drop-off. Children are greeted with warm smiles by their dedicated teachers or teacher's assistants, easing them into the day with a period of joyful free play before our structured preschool programme officially begins. It's a calm and welcoming start to their day, ensuring both parents and children feel supported.
Wholesome Nutrition: Freshly Prepared Meals
Nourishing growing bodies and minds is a priority. Our school fees include freshly prepared breakfast and lunch, expertly crafted by a trusted catering service and served directly in the classroom. We take great care to accommodate allergies and other dietary requirements, providing parents with peace of mind. For severe dietary needs, we may request a medical letter to ensure our team can accurately interpret and prepare your child's meals with the utmost care and safety.
Dedicated Educators & Personalised Attention
Our classes are thoughtfully divided by age, ensuring that the curriculum and activities are perfectly suited to each developmental stage. Crucially, every teacher is supported by one or more dedicated assistants, with the ratio carefully adjusted based on the group size and age of the children. This commitment to a low child-to-staff ratio ensures that each child receives the individual care, attention, and guidance they need to thrive and optimally benefit from our preschool programme. Younger children and babies, with their unique needs, often benefit from an even higher number of assistants.
Prioritising Safety: First Aid and Medication Policy
Children are naturally energetic explorers, and while running, playing, climbing, and jumping are vital for their development, minor bumps and bruises can sometimes occur. To ensure immediate and effective response, our dedicated teachers are comprehensively trained in first aid. Please be aware that national regulations strictly prohibit teachers from dispensing any medicine, including over-the-counter or herbal tonics, without a valid prescription signed by a medical doctor. Therefore, should your child require medication during the day, our trained first-aid officers will administer it in class only upon presentation of a valid prescription.
Stimulating Indoor Learning Environments
At Curro Bankenveld Preschool, we believe that the learning environment itself plays a crucial role in a child's development. Our classrooms are purposefully designed to be "inanimate teachers," brimming with engaging resources and inviting spaces that encourage interaction and discovery. This thoughtful design ensures that your child is continuously immersed in enriching early childhood development, even during quiet moments or social lounge time with friends.
Dynamic Outdoor Play & Exploration
Our expansive outdoor play areas are vibrant hubs of activity and adventure! Featuring exciting jungle gyms, charming playhouses, and wonderfully shaded zones for creative and sensory play, these spaces are meticulously designed to encourage robust physical activity and imaginative exploration. To further ensure a safe and inclusive environment, most of our outdoor areas are surfaced with synthetic grass, helping to prevent allergic reactions and allowing children to play freely and joyfully.
