About the school
Creston College has a primary school in Oslo Beach, Port Shepstone. We provide an excellent education to learners from Grade 1 to Grade 7 and limit our class sizes to make sure learners get personal attention. Teaching takes place in English and we have a wide variety of sports and cultural activities that complement our academics. We also form part of the Curro school group, and have aftercare and school transport options. Our learners even have Robotics and chess as subjects.

We are committed to providing learners with an excellent education. That is why our approach to teaching the national CAPS curriculum is based on project-based learning and self-discovery. This approach allows our primary school learners to explore the learning material beyond just the textbook through research, experiments and assignments. Regular assessments and tests still take place, but it’s important to us that learners can use their intellectual abilities to make the material real to them in some way.
As part of the Curro school group, we can tap into a wide network of teachers and support that can ultimately give your child an excellent education that stretches beyond the classroom.
Our foundation phase starts by helping Grade 1 adapt to the more formal learning that starts in this year. In this phase, they learn the basic foundations on which all further learning is based – and even have chess as part of the programme:
Language (read, spell, understand, speak, listen)
Mathematics (count, understand numbers, addition, subtraction and multiplication)
Life skills (physical education, real-life experiences, problem-solving, creativity)
In the intermediate phase, the work becomes less tangible or real, and more abstract. To do this, learners start with project-based learning, which means they do research, assignments, and experiments to explore the material outside just the textbook.
Teaching takes place in English, and learners can choose Afrikaans or isiZulu as additional language options. They also have Robotics as a subject throughout school.
As part of the Curro school group, our learners enjoy preference when applying to any school in the group. This includes Curro Online, a fully-online school where learners who don’t live near a school in the group can still get the excellent Curro education from home.
As we form part of an IEB school, your child benefits from excellent subjects that are unique to our school. These include Robotics and Coding, Creative Arts and Economic and Management Sciences. Also, these subjects pull through to high school.

As a primary school in Oslo Beach, Port Shepstone, our extensive range of activities are tailored to the interests of our learners. Activities such as debating and art even give learners a boost in their education, because they help your child become confident in formulating their ideas and making their voice heard.
